A March 27 update on the attempted government take-over of UMN property per UMN Executive Director:
Our hearing at the Supreme Court took place this morning. It only took about 20 minutes and the judge gave us a full stay order - the best possible decision in our favour! This means that none of the defendants can take any further action in terms of implementing the cabinet decision.
Thanks to all of you who prayed over this significant issue with us. For those who missed it, a brief description was published here. UMN is the organization that owns and operates the hospital where we'll be working. The potential consequences of the loss of property was difficult to comprehend but all agreed that the consequences could have been drastic.
Happy birthday UMN! May you survive to serve the people of Nepal for another 60 years.

No further hearing is required at this stage unless the stay
order is challenged by the defendants, in which case there would be a further
hearing which would either uphold or quash (reject) the stay order issued.
Legally the next step if there is no challenge would be a
full judicial enquiry, however this would be a long time into the future and
will hopefully be avoided if we can come to an agreement with the Government on
the issues. Once we have an agreement with them we can then withdraw the
stay order. We will now be working hard to meet with Government reps and
others to try and resolve the issue once and for all.
